Mandir Bagh residents aghast
SNAKE FROM TAP!
AAQIB ASHRAF
Srinagar Jan 10: Panic gripped Mandir Bagh area here on last evening when a hairline snake appeared from a tap in a house here.
Shahnawaz Hussain of Mandir Bagh was shocked to see a small snake in his glass when he was collecting water for drinking.
“The snake poured out from a tap. I was shocked to see it in my glass,” Shahnawaz said. On Thursday morning, Shahnawaz and other inhabitants displayed the snake before journalists.
“No a single official from PHE department visited the area to inquire about the matter,” the locals said.
“We are being supplied with unfiltered water. We urge the Chief Engineer PHE to look into the matter,” they said.
Meanwhile AEE PHE department Manzoor Ahmad played down the matter.
“We use chemicals and foolproof filtration process to supply safe water from drinking. With such a mechanism. It is impossible that a snake will come out from a tap. The snake might have entered supply pipe of the house through some leakage,” the AEE said.
