FOUNDATION LAYING CEREMONY OF SLAUGHTER HOUSE SHELVED
Allot us land for stadium first: MLA Batamaloo
Srinagar, Jan 11: Authorities today had to shelve foundation stone laying ceremony of construction of slaughter house at Alochi Bagh as MLA Batamaloo Irfan Shah objected to its construction at the existing site. He said the present site should, instead be allotted for stadium as is being demanded by the locals.
Officials said Shah told the Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand that youth of Batamaloo constituency are facing immense problems due to lack of a stadium in the area.
“Out of 35 kanals of land atleast allot 25 kanals for construction of stadium. On rest of the land, government can construct amenities including slaughter house in consultation with the locals,” Shah told the Deputy CM.
Meanwhile, in a statement an official spokesman said responding to the demand of shifting the project of construction of Slaughter House at Alocha Bagh, Deputy CM assured MLA Batmaloo that Rs. 35 crore project will be shifted to a suitable place where scientific methods will be adopted to minimize environmental pollution.
Pertinently, Deputy Chief Minister and his junior housing minister Nasir Aslam Wani were scheduled to lay the foundation stone of the abattoir today.
