Mere scapegoats

This refers to the condemnable act of killing sarpanches in Kashmir. These poor fellows are being exploited by the experienced politicians. They have been made scapegoats. Our chief minister boasts of bringing back democracy at grassroots level. But who is paying the cost. I don’t think sarpanches understand the high level politics being played with them. They have participated in the panchayat elections to resolve the issues of their small villages where big politicians never reach. Someone wants a bridge in his village to connect it to the rest of the valley. Someone is aspiring for a government school in his village so that the students do not have to travel miles before reaching the school. For that they risk their lives. How tragic?
