Govt to introduce Data Management Technology for farmers: Mir

Jammu, Jan 16: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir today said that government was actively considering the introduction of Data Management Technology for the farmers of the J&K to help them get round the clock area based agriculture information vital for better production and growth.
Watching a power-point presentation presented by M/s Actech Agro here today, the minister said the technology would help the agriculture department to have a proper data base of farmers, and would enable the department to provide specific information about the latest agri-techniques to the farmers of each area.
He said this system would help enhance the agriculture production and suggest safety measures against any problem, an official statement said.
Minister of State for Agriculture, Nazir Ahmad Khan (Gurazi) was also present on the occasion.
While giving the presentation, Managing Director M/s Actech Agro, Arvind Puchuri said the Data Management Technology would establish two way mode of communication for the farmers. “It would create infrastructure for collection of accurate weather information and weather forecast,” he said.
He said it would also help crop disease prediction/detection based on weather forecast. “The technology would create facilities and medium for making weather information and forecast available to public and government departments.”
Commissioner Secretary Agriculture Department, Shaleen Kabra, Director Agriculture Jammu, Ajay Khujaria, Director Extension SKUAST-J, Dr Risim, Director CAD Asgar Ali and other senior officers of the agriculture department were present.
