Kafeel-ur-Rehman gets Cabinet Minister’s status
Srinagar, Jan 17: A day after senior NC leader Kafeel urRehman from Karnah refused to join office after being appointed as Vice-Chairman of the Pahari Advisory Board, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today elevated him to the rank of cabinet minister. He had earlier been appointed as the Vice-Chairman of the board with the status of a Minister of State. According to official sources, an order to the effect of elevation of Kafeel to the status of a cabinet Minister was issued this afternoon, after the Chief Minister called the disgruntled NC leader to his office.
Talking to KNS, Kafeel ur Rehman, said he was thankful to the Chief Minister for showing concern for Pahari speaking people. “I am sure this decision would benefit the backward area of Karnah and help me in addressing their grievances in an effective manner”, he added.
Pertinently, Rehman had Wednesday refused to join office as Vice-Chairman of the Pahari Advisory Board, calling it an insult to the people of Karnah.
