Srinagar, Jan 1: Former Union Minister and President J&K Pradesh Congress Committee Prof. Saifuddin Soz Tuesday expressed gratitude to the AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi for ‘taking keen interest in promoting Kargil region’s connectivity.”
In a statement issued here, Soz said: “I have expressed my gratitude to Rahul Gandhi for having taken keen interest in promoting Kargil region’s connectivity with rest of the world in vital areas like Air, Road and Telecom connectivity.”
Soz said as far as air connectivity of Kargil is concerned, Rahul has finally succeeded in “motivating a private company -Air Mantra (Religare Company) to schedule its flights to and fro Kargil.”
“The inaugural flight is expected to be scheduled on 7th or 12th January 2013. Rahul Gandhi has already requested me to represent him in the inauguration ceremony. He has also urged IOC to ensure provision of refueling facilities at Kargil so that to and fro Kargil flights are operated smoothly,” he said.
Soz said: “Apart from these activities Rahul Gandhi is trying very hard to get Kargil district on the tourism map of Jammu and Kashmir.”
Soz said: “The construction of Zojila Tunnel and inauguration of Z-Morh Tunnel some months ago came about only through his (Rahul Gandhi’s) efforts. He has also taken up the matter with telecom authorities for providing mobile towers and otherwise strengthening telecommunication services in the Kargil region.”
