Guttapora, Hawal reel under darkness

Srinagar, Jan 19: The inhabitants of Guttapora, Ahmada Kadal and Mirza Kamil Sahib Hawal in Shaher-e-Khaas are without electricity for past many days.
A delegation from the area led by Nazir Ahmad Khan accused the Power Development Department (PDD) of resorting to inordinate delay in repairing the colony transformer, which developed some snag some days ago.
“We face immense inconvenience in absence of electricity in harsh winter conditions. Many people mostly elderly face problems to walk to Masjid in evenings and wee hours in dark. Our wards are preparing for the ongoing examinations these days. They are unable to study properly in absence of electricity,” they said.
They said even though the transformer has been taken for repairs, it was yet to be reinstalled.
They appealed the concerned Executive Engineer PDD to look into the matter and restore the power supply at the earliest.
Meanwhile Inhabitants of Mirza Kamil Sahib locality of Hawal in Shaher-e-Khaas continue to reel under darkness.
A delegation from the area said the transformer in the area developed technical many days ago.
“The PDD authorities had assured us to repair the transformer in a day. However, despite passing of many days, the transformer is yet to be repaired. Despite reminders not a single PDD official visited the spot. We appeal the Chief Engineer PDD to look into the matter.
