Manhas joins PDP
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Jan 19: Noted writer, literary activist and political analyst Zaffar Iqbal Manhas has joined the Peoples Democratic Party. He called on the party president Mehbooba Mufti here Saturday to formally join the party and dedicate himself to its agenda.
Welcoming Manhas into the party fold, Mehbooba said the fact that the party is attracting talent from all sections of society including the intellectual class bodes well for the politics of the state. She said people with concern for the state’s problems should come forward and join the party where they will find the right atmosphere and platform to contribute positively to the political discourse and development of the state.
She said it was heartening that apart from intellectuals and professionals, educated youth were joining the party fold in order to bring about complete change in the present system.
On this occasion, Manhas said he was impressed by the agenda of the party which aims at bringing a change in the mindsets about the problems facing Jammu and Kashmir, connecting people from different regions and communities and also take the state to next level of development. He said he was so influenced by the leadership of the party which is working selflessly in order to bring about a complete change in the ‘exploitative system that has adversely impacted several generations of people.’
