EID-E-MILAD OBSERVED WITH RELIGIOUS FERVOR
Thousands Throng Hazratbal; Processions Taken Out Across Valley

Srinagar, Jan 25: Braving the intense cold, thousands of devotees Friday thronged Hazratbal Shrine here to celebrate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Elsewhere in Kashmir division, congregational prayers were offered and processions taken out to mark Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW).
Devotees including women and children converged at the Hazratbal Shrine on the banks of Dal Lake to have a glimpse of the Holy Relic of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and National Conference Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani also offered prayers at the shrine.
Srinagar and other towns of the Valley are presenting a festive look since the beginning of Rabi-ul-Awal as markets have been illuminated to celebrate the Prophet’s (SAW) birthday.
Special arrangements were put in place by Traffic Police for smooth movement of transport. Besides private and public transport, State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) had made special arrangements for devotees.
Special congregational prayers and processions were held at Janab Sahib Soura, Asar-i-Sharif Shahri Kalashpora, Lal Bazar, Khanqah-i-Maula, Ziarat Hazrat Dastgeer Sahib (RA), Syed Yaqoob Sahab (RA) Sonwar, Khawaja Naqshband Sahab (RA) and Ziarat Makhdoom Sahib (RA).
Milad processions were taken out from Saraibala and Barbarshah areas of Srinagar. A huge Milad car procession was organized by Karwan-i-Islami. The rally started from Saraibala and ended in Sumbal area of Bandipora district. Thousands of people participated in the rally. During the procession, participants raised pro-Islam slogans and leaders of Karwan-i-Islami threw light on the life of the Prophet (SAW). They also called for unity among Muslims.
Reports pouring in from north Kashmir said that thousands of people offered prayers in different Masjids and shrines to mark the day.
There were reports of congregational prayers from Ganderbal, Bandipora, Sopore, Kupwara, Handwara and other places of north Kashmir.
Reports from south Kashmir said that thousands of people offered prayers at Masjids and shrines in Islamabad (Anantnag) mainly at Jamia Masjid Reshi Sahab, Khiram Sirhama, Kaba Marg, Dooru and Seer Hamdan. People also took out Milad processions from other parts of the district. In Islamabad (Anantnag) town, thousands of people including women and children took part in Milad procession led by Mirwaiz South Kashmir Qazi Yasir. Yasir threw light on the life of Prophet (SAW) and called for unity among Muslims. Moulana Abdul Rashid Dawoodi of Saut-ul-Awlia also led a huge Milad procession. Milad processions were also taken out in Pulwama, Shopian, Bijbehara, Pampore and Awantipora.
In Budgam, prayers were held throughout the day at Ziayarat of Hazrat Syed Hussain Simnani (RA) and Charar-e-Sharief.
Reports from Kargil said that thousands of people celebrated Eid Milad-u-Nabi (SAW). While speaking in Jamia Masjid Hanfia Kargil, the Imam stressed for unity among the Muslims.
