64th R-Day celebrated across JK
Srinagar/Jammu, Jan 26: The 64th Republic Day was celebrated across all district and tehsil headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir.
The main functions were held in Jammu and Srinagar.
BUDGAM: Hailing the decision of union cabinet to relax the job norms for J&K, Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir today said that the decision could address the employment concerns of the local youth in big way. The Minister said this after unfurling the national flag at Budgam here this morning.
KUPWARA: The main function was held at District Police Lines Kupwara where Minister for CA&PD, Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan unfurled the National flag and took salute. The contingents of CRPF, IRP, JKAP, JKP, Forest Protection Force and School children participated in March past.
GANDERBAL: Minister for Forests and Environment, Mian Altaf Ahmad unfurled the National Flag at Ganderbal and took salute at the march past.
Mian Altaf congratulated people for maintaining peace during last summer adding that peace is the pre-requisite for development.
PULWAMA: The Republic Day was celebrated in Pulwama district and main function was held at District Police Lines, the Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Mir Saifullah unfurled the national flag and took salute on the march past.
BARAMULLA: The Republic Day was celebrated in District Police Lines, Baramulla where Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Taj Mohi-ud-Din was the chief guest who unfurled national flag and took salute at the march past.
A colourful cultural programme was presented by students of several schools on the occasion which was liked by the audience.
4 OFFICERS AWARDED
The district administration Baramulla awarded four district officers for their meritorious services on the occasion of Republic Day. Those awarded are ACR Farooq Ahmad Shah, Assistant Commissioner Development, District Social Welfare Officer and Chief Education Officer.
BANDIPORA: Republic Day was celebrated with patriotic zeal at Boys Higher Secondary School Bandipora, the Minister for Higher Education, Muhammad Akbar Lone was chief guest on the occasion and hoisted the national flag and took salute at the march past.
ANANTNAG: After hoisting tricolour at Degree College Anantnag, the Minister for Public Enterprises, Hajj, Auqaf and Floriculture, Peerzada Muhammad Sayeed was chief guest on the occasion and hoisted the national flag and took salute at the march past.
Minister for Hajj and Auqaf awarded medals and citation in presence of District Development Commissioner (DDC), Islamabad (Anantnag), Farooq Ahmad Shah.
The awardees included SSP, Anantnag, RK Jalla; Chief Planning Officer, (CPO) Anantnag, M Y Tantray; Principal Boys Degree College Anantnag; M T Shah; Principal Women College Anantnag, Nusrat Javidani; District Education and Planning Officer (DEPO), Anantnag, Ghulam Rasool Shah and Bashir Malik of Doordarshan. ETV Urdu news was awarded for promotion of Kashmir at national and International level.
KULGAM: The Minister for Social Welfare Sakina Itoo unfurled the National flag and took salute at the march past.
KARNAH: Sub Divisional Magistrate Zahoor Ahmad Mir unfurled the National flag and took salute at the march past.
UDHAMPUR: Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand hoisted the National flag and took salute on march past by 42 contingents drawn from Police, Forest Protection Force, NCC Boys and Girls and government and private educational institutions. The students presented several items and cultural programmes on the occasion.
KATHUA: Minister for Planning, Development, Labour and Employment, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today emphasised the crucial need for maintaining peace and forging harmony to sustain the gains of growth and development in Jammu and Kashmir.
LEH: Like in other parts of the State, the 64th Republic Day was celebrated at Leh with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh Rigzin Spalbar unfurled the National flag and took salute at an impressive parade at Leh Polo-ground where nearly 10,000 people drawn from all walks of life attended the main function braving biting cold.
KARGIL: Despite immense cold and freezing temperature, Republic Day was celebrated at Kargil with immense patriotism and gaiety. Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Kargil, Kacho Ahmed Ali Khan hoisted the national flag at Khree Sultan Chow Sports Stadium, Kargil and took salute at march past comprising contingents of Jammu and Kashmir Police, NCC, Army and civil band party and troupes of Government and private schools. Thousands of men and women thronged the stadium to witness the celebrations.
SHOPION: Minister for Tourism Ghulam Ahmed Mir unfurled the national flag and took salute on the march past contingents by J&K Police, CRPF, Home Guard, NCC cadets, Students of various Schools, Forest protection Force and IRP.
DODA: Minister for Roads and Buildings Abdul Majid Wani hoisted the tricolor and took salute at the march past by contingents at Sports Stadium Doda.
KISHTWAR: Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Home, R&B, Housing & Urban Development, Tourism and Culture, Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo unfurled the flag.
RAJOURI: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Sharma unfurled the tri-color at the main function held at Police Lines, here this morning.
REASI: Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies Nawang Rigzin Jora, unfurled the National Flag and took salute on the march past, presented by the school children and security personals.
RAMBAN: Minister of State for Technical Education, Power, Information, Rural Development, Law, Hospitality and Protocol, Viqar Rasool Wani hoisted the tricolor and took salute of the march past.
