Army celebrates R-Day in Kashmir
Srinagar, Jan 26: Army on Saturday celebrated the 64th Republic Day in Kashmir.
Different functions were held by Army throughout Kashmir to mark the occasion.
Kilo Force organized programmes in Bandipora, Lolab, Sopore, Pattan and Sharifabad.
According to defence PRO statement, the national flag was hoisted at Army Goodwill Schools in Hanzik (Sharifabad), Mazbug (Sopore), Budkot (Handwara), Krusan (Lolab), Chandigam (Kupwara) and khairpora (Bandipora) as well as all Battalion Headquarters in all remote villages, company operating bases alongwith the local populace.
Maj Gen Sarath Chand, GOC CIF (Kilo) presided over the function at Army Goodwill School Hanzik.
The General Officer addressed all children and expressed that the children are future and the nation has immense hope from them. He urged them to strive relentlessly to gain better education and work towards shaping into a capable and responsible citizen of the country.
The Chief Guest presented computers to the Government Schools of Hajibagh, Sharifabad, Hanzik and Durbal.
The Republic day was also celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm at AGS, Naugam under the aegis of TMG Bde. Apart from the school children, approximately 500 local to include parents, village elders and Sarpanchs participated in the celebration.
An awareness rally and drawing competition was today held under the aegis of 13 RR at Army Goodwill School Hajan in north Kashmir.
“To commemorate the day a drawing competition was also organized among the students of various schools. The students who were adjudged best were given prizes. The competition was conducted in two categories, first group was for students of class 4th to 5th, and the other group was for 6th to 8th”, said an official of the 13 RR.
