Kalantara demands JK Bank branch
Kalantara,Jan 4: Residents of this north Kashmir area have urged top brass of JK bank to establish a branch in their area.
Residents of Kakothal, Chek,Tangwari Payeen, Tangwari Bala, Kalantara Bala, Kalantara Payeen, Danmoha, Nilsar, Saterseeran, Nagbal, Bandi Payeen, Bandi Bala, Brannaar, Kohlena, Kachwa, Darwa, Muqam, and other adjoining areas have to cover a distance of 10-15 Kms to reach a JK Bank branch located at Kreeri and Wagoora.
"We have to travel 10 Kms for a simple cash withdrawal or for depositing cash", locals told Greater Kashmir.
"We are facing immense hardships due to the non-availability of a JK Bank branch here in the area", they added.
"We face tough times when we have to deposit admission fee", said Mehrajuddin a student of GDC Baramulla.
Tourists who travel to world famous tourist destination Gulmarg via Kalantara route also face inconvenience. "Visitors face hardships due to the absence of any banking facilities in the area", said Umar Majeed Wani, a tourist guide.
In absence of the banking facilities, residents lag behind as they are unaware about various schemes which provide employment opportunities for the unemployed youth.
Meanwhile when contacted Cluster Head JK Bank north Kashmir Nazir Ahmad Teli said: "Recently we conducted a survey in the area and we found that there are some problems in establishing a branch at Kalantara like transportation, network signal, security etc, but still we are thinking over it. We will not let the people suffer," he added.
