UN resolutions not outdated, irrelevant: Er Rasheed
‘Autonomy, Self-Rule, Musharraf’s Formula Deceptive Tactics’
Srinagar, Jan 4: Launching a veiled attack on Hurriyat Conference (M), MLA Langate Er Rasheed Friday said the people shouldn’t get carried away by the “illogical argument” that the UN resolutions on Kashmir have become outdated and irrelevant.
“Those giving sermons to Kashmiris daily to be realistic should know that it is because of UN resolutions that J&K is still being accepted as an unresolved dispute all over the world,” Rasheed said in a statement issued here today.
The MLA, who is under oath to uphold the sovereignty and integrity of India in his capacity as a member of the state Assembly, has asked Kashmiris not to give up their demand for implementation of UN resolutions.
Rasheed said January 5 knocks every year at conscience of world community in general and Indian and Pakistani leadership in particular to wake them up and fulfill their commitment made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to give them Right to Self Determination.
Without naming any leader of Hurriyat (M), Rasheed said the argument that much time has passed since 1947 and during this period circumstances have made UN Resolutions irrelevant is purely ridiculous. “Time and events cannot change ground realities. India and Pakistan know better than anybody that without doing justice with Kashmiri people they cannot move even an inch to resolve issues including the core dispute of Kashmir,” he said.
Pertinently, a senior functionary of Hurriyat (M) Prof Abdul Gani had recently come under severe attack for his reported comments that UN Resolutions have become outdated.
Er Rasheed also said that Kashmiris should not dilute their stand by putting forward formulas like Autonomy, Self-Rule and Musharraf’s 4 point formula. He said India is not even ready to discuss the problem that is why all the bilateral agreements from Shimla to Tashkant and Lahore to Agra have failed.
Hitting out at Pakistan, Rasheed said if Pakistani government really means business it should come out with a clear stance and assure the world community that Pakistan is ready to implement all the terms and conditions required to implement UN Resolutions on Kashmir.
It is in place to mention here that while taking oath every member of the state legislature including Er Rasheed have to affirm; “I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of the State as by law established. That I will uphold the sovereignty and integrity of India and that I will faithfully discharge the duty upon which I am about to enter”.
