BSNL notifies change in telephone numbers

Srinagar, Jan 6: Due to commissioning of Nowgam Exchange, the landlines numbers in Nowgam and its adjoining areas have been changed.
The exchange was inaugurated by Chief General Manager BSNL Jammu and Kashmir RK Kaul during a function on Saturday.
In a statement a spokesman of BSNL said the new exchange will feed Nowgam, TRC/Railway station, BK Pora, Wanbal, Aribagh, SK Bagh, Khanday colony, Sheikh-ul-Alam Colony, Shankerpora, Usmania Colony, Methan, Ahmads Hospital area, Banpora, Railway colony, Naik Bagh, Faizabad Colony, Natipora upto old RTO Office and British School Bye pass.
The spokesman said telephone numbers in these areas have been changed and an emphasis has been laid to keep the last three digits unchanged. He said as on now, the subscribers will have to dial 2314XXX, 2315XXX, 2316XXX and 2317XXX instead of 243XXXX or 244XXXX.
“The cable laying in Nowgam exchange area is in progress and new landlines as well as broadband connections shall be provided on demand progressively in a phased manner in next 3 months. The new exchange will improve services to large extent besides the Broadband facility will get the impetus,” the spokesman added.
