Parvez Rasool makes India-A debut

‘Dhoni Gave Useful Tips During Net Session’

Srinagar, Jan 6: The promising all-rounder from Jammu and Kashmir Parvez Rasool became second from the state and first Kashmiri cricketer to play for India-A cricket team, when he made his debut for the team in a warm-up tie against visiting England side at Palam Grounds New Delhi on Sunday.
In the weather affected match, India-A defeated star studded England side by 53 runs.
Though Parvez didn’t get much of an opportunity to prove his mettle but to get selected and play an international match means a lot to this talented cricketer.
Talking to Greater Kashmir over Phone from New Delhi, he said, “It was dream to play for India-A team. It would have been good experience if bad weather would not have affected the duration of the game. Due to curtailment of overs, I did not get much of an opportunity to prove my point”.
In the match, India batted first and scored 224 for the loss of four wickets in allotted 39 overs. In reply, England were bundled out for 175 runs in 36 overs. In bowling Parvez who bowls off spinners was given opportunity to bowl in 26th over of the inning. He bowled only three overs conceding 16 runs. Though with bat and bowl he did not got chance to show his talent but still in fielding Parvez effected the run-out of James Tredwell.
“Throughout the inning I was padded up but due to curtailment in overs and the batting order kept changing and I missed a chance to bat. Ian Bell was batting when I bowled and I didn’t gave him much to score,” Parvez said.
Parvez said he is confident that many more opportunities like this will come his way in future.
“I am confident that I will get many more opportunities like this in future and will get chance to impress selectors,” he said.
Parvez was on Saturday summoned by the Indian team management to bowl to the likes of captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Virat Kohli ahead of the side's third and final ODI against Pakistan on Sunday.
Rasool, who was in the India-A squad for the practice match against England at the Air Force Ground in Palam, along with Madhya Pradesh speedster Ishwar Pandey and Haryana's Mohit Mahipal Sharma were quickly rushed to the India nets from the 'A' team's training.
About his experience of bowling and sharing dressing room, he said, “It was great experience and I bowled at almost all the Indian stars like M S Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh. It was out of world experience”.
“All the stars are nice and helpful and particularly skipper M S Dhoni who is always there to give useful tips. When I was bowling at him, on the other end Raina was batting. I was bowling over the wicket to both Dhoni and Raina. Seeing this Dhoni told me that I can bowl round the wicket as well to Raina and I think that helped me a lot,” Parvez said.
