Rs 92.5 lakh sanctioned for Seed Certification Agency

Srinagar, Jan 5: Union agriculture ministry has sanctioned Rs 92.5 lakh to Seed Certification Agency of Kashmir Division for multiplication and distribution of quality seeds among the farming community. The grant is aimed to help the agency improve production and distribution of quality seeds among the farmers.
Director, Agriculture Department, Kashmir Dr Farooq A Lone said this at a review meeting at Lalmandi here.
Among others Joint Director Agriculture Inputs & Divisional Seed Certification Officer attended the meeting.
In the meeting it was informed that about Rs 15 lakh have been sanctioned for strengthening of infrastructure Seed Certification Laboratory, 15 lakh for purchase of equipments, Rs 25 lakh for DNA finger Printing Laboratory, Rs 35 lakh for strengthening of “grow out test farm” at Lalmandi and Rs 2.50 lakh for conducting of training for seed development programmes.
