2 imposters held for extortion
Srinagar, Jan 7: Police on Monday said that it arrested two persons posing as police officials in frontier district of Kupwara.
Javid Ahmad War and his associate Riyaz Ahmad, both residents of Sopore, were arrested from Shedipora village of Drugmullah, 100 kms from here, on the charges of extortion, it said.
War used to identify himself as a sub-inspector and his two associates as his subordinates. The trio was indulging in extortion in the area, said a police official.
Two persons were nabbed while their third accomplice Javid Ahmad Khanday managed to give police a slip.
