SKUAST criteria
This refers to the criticism faced by the present authorities of SKUAST-Kashmir. Criticism can prove constructive provided that the critic is right in approach and fare in objectives. Our state agricultural university has shown a welcome change in recent times. In my opinion, this change is certainly the result of continuous efforts made by an experienced group under the patronage of a conscious head. Although I believe that there is always scope for improvement as we are no more than common humans, I see its present recruitment policy more respecting for both ICAR as well as the cause of university’s establishment. ICAR itself considered Ph.D. and NET qualifications essential for the posts of assistant professor and equivalent some time ago. This is maximum criteria for such a job and must be desirable even if ICAR in high regard of NET qualification directed SAUs to revert to previous one. I believe a Ph.D will exclusively serve rather than reserving self for fulfillment of study requirements. However, the university authority must see to it that locals are appointed and should in fact help them by amending the eligibility criteria as is being maintained for veterinary sciences.
