Boy drowns in Islamabad

Srinagar, July 13: A boy drowned in a stream in south Kashmir’s Islamabad district on Saturday.
 Police said a school boy, Showkat Ahmad Bhat son of Gul Muhammad of Shiekhpora, Chittergul drowned while having a bath in Orpat Nallah, Manzimwadi in Achabal. Body of the boy was fished out and handed over to his relatives for last rites.

SCD resents amendments in recruitment rules
Srinagar, July 13: Society of Consultant Doctors (SCD) on Saturday expressed strong resentment against proposal of the J&K Health department to make amendments in recruitment rules for top administrative posts.
 “If the proposal is implemented the consultant doctors would be ostracized and declared incompetent for such posts. SCD out rightly rejects the government’s procrustean gesture and firmly believes that both seniority and qualification should form the cornerstone of any such appointments in future,” spokesperson SCD Dr Rashid Para said in a statement. 

Teachers Forum Bandipora expresses gratitude
Srinagar, July 13: District President Teachers Forum District Bandipora M. Sharief Shah has expressed gratitude to the Chief Education Officer Bandipora Muhammad Latif Wani for speedy disposal of problems of employees.
 In a statement Shah appealed the CEO Bandipora to direct the concerned Zonal Education Officers to process the cases of E V turned RETs engaged up to June 26, 2008 to facilitate their regularization.

Dir Inf , PC condole demise
Srinagar, July 13: Directorate of Information Srinagar has condoled the demise of mother of senior journalist Naseer Ganaie.
 Director Information Zaffar Ahmad visited the residence of Naseer and conveyed his heartfelt condolences. Meanwhile, a condolence meeting was held today at the Directorate of Information, Srinagar in which the participants expressed sympathy with Naseer and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul
 Meanwhile, the Peoples' Conference Chairman Sajad Lone has also expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Ganai family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
 Peoples' Conference General Secretary Rashid Mehmood and Party Spokesperson Junaid Azim Mattu visited Naseer’s residence and expressed their condolences with the bereaved family.

Srinagar, July 13: Brother-in-law of Joint Director School Education Suriya Akther passed away on Friday evening.
The deceased Haji Khursheed Ahmed War a resident of Jeelanabad Pir Bagh Sector 2 E, was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Gogoo Opposite Gousia Cooperative Colony on Saturday morning. Hundreds of people, including employees from DESK, participated in funeral prayers.
 The congregational Fateh Khwaani of the deceased would be held at 10 am on Monday at Gogoo Opposite Gousia Cooperative Colony. Later a condolence meeting will be held at Jeelanabad Pir Bagh Sector 2 E. Meanwhile, employees of DESK visited the house of the deceased and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.
