Chargesheet filed against Sub-Inspector, 7 others

Jammu, July 17: Police today filed charge-sheet against a Sub Inspector, his Personal Security Officer (PSO) and seven other persons, mostly laborers, for lobbying a hand grenade on Police Station Thathri in Doda district in April this year.
 The challan was presented by Special Investigation Team, constituted by the state government after revelation that a Sub Inspector of Police was instrumental in the grenade attack ‘with an attempt to revive militancy in Chenab valley region.’
 After investigation of the case, a challan was filed against sub-inspector Shiv Krishan Sharma, his PSO Muhammad Ayub, Abdul Rashid alias Abdullah son of Muhammad Iqbal Hargah of Tanta, Akhter Hussain son of Showkat Ali Magray of Tanta, Muhammad Rafi lobourer, son of Muhammad Ibrahim of Patnazi, Bounjwah, Altaf Hussain, son of Nazir Ahmad of Joura, Gandoh, Muhammad Yaqoob, son of Fateh Muhammad Gujjar of Bathree, Gandoh and Arshad Ahmed son of Abdul Rehman Mir. “The Sub Inspector trapped the villagers and lured them to lob the grenade. He wanted to kill some of them after declaring them as militants”, police told the court.
 The Challan was produced before Third Additional Sessions Judge Jammu under sections 307/120-B/109/201 RPC and ¾ ESA, 7/25/27 Arms Act and 3 PSSA.
