Labourer dies in mishap

Srinagar July 18: A labourer of Forest department died in a mishap in south Kashmir’s Islamabad district on Thursday.
 Police said the labourer identified as Ghulam Hassan Khan son of Nadir Khan resident of Panchalthan was injured while rolling a log of timber at Chontihal Chattur Gul forest. He was shifted to Srinagar hospital for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries, police said.

'Complicated surgery performed at SDH Uri'
Srinagar, July 18: A complicated surgery was performed at Sub District Hospital Uri on Thursday.
 According to a statement by the hospital, the surgery was conducted by a team of doctors headed by Dr Jamsheed Ahamad Khan consultant surgeon, Dr Aabid jabbar Qureshi consultant anesthetist. The team was assisted by Dr Malik Shahnaz, Muhammad Aslam, Muhammad Shafi and Maqbool Ahmad.
 ”Patient was initially operated for gall bladder stones. During operation his common bile duct  (CBD) was found grossly dilated which was containing multiple worms leading to its blockade. For it a difficult procedure of choledochoduodenostomy in which CBD was connected to duodenum was performed. The team was supported by BMO Uri Dr Sheikh Farooq. People of the area have hailed efforts of the BMO and the theatre staff. The same team had previously performed difficult hydatid liver and kidney surgeries at this remote centre,” the statement said.
