Infiltration bid foiled, militant killed: Army
Bandipora, July 16: Army on Friday claimed that it foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control in Gurez sector of in north Kashmir by killing a militant in the operation.
“A group of three to four heavily armed militants tried to sneak into Gurez sector near Nani Post this morning. They were challenged however, the militants opened fire towards the army positions, which was retaliated triggering an encounter in which one unidentified militant was killed,” an army official said.
They said the associates of the slain militant managed to flee back.
Meanwhile Army has intensified search operations and have laid cordon all over the forest in Athwatoo, Chandaji and Lashkoot area. “We have inputs that a few of the militants have succeeded in crossing the LoC, so the operations have been intensified to halt their movement in forest area” an Army officer said.
