Jammu, July 19: Senior National Conference (NC) leaders on Friday expressed deep anguish and grief over the killing of four persons in Gool area of district Ramban.
The leaders, at a condolence meeting here, expressed solidarity with the bereaved families who lost their near and dear ones in the tragic firing incident. Expressing solidarity with the grieving families, Senior Vice President Surjeet Singh Salathia and Provincial President Devender Singh Rana described the excessive use of force against the protestors as unwarranted and said the situation could have been saved had the forces exercised restraint.
“This is a very sad and tragic incident in which four young people have lost their precious lives”, Rana said, adding that such incidents are unacceptable in a civilized and democratic setup. Rana appreciated the resilience and composure shown by the people across the Jammu region after shocking shoot-out and said this spirit is required to be maintained for larger interest of peace.
The NC leaders urged the government to deliver severe punishment to those found guilty.  Later, the Provincial President accompanied by Salathia, Rattan Lal Gupta, former MLC Haji Mohammed Hussain and senior leaders of the party visited the Government Medical College Hospital and enquired about the condition of those injured in the firing incident.
