THIS is with reference to the curfew helpline started by the District Magistrate during the curfew in the wake of killing of innocent people in Gool area of Ramban district.
Srinagar has been witnessing curfews quite often in the present regime, particularly during summers. But this time at least there was someone to listen to the pleas of those in need of venturing out of their homes during the curfew. In the previous years it was worst as nobody would listen to our woes.
Somewhere someone needed medical consultation, somewhere a baby needed milk. But nobody would have got any respite had the helpline not been started, which is unlike of the previous years.
And this helpline, we checked was not any symbolic service to fetch publicity but a genuine ray of hope for people in need. I personally hail Er Farooq Ahmed Shah for the endeavor.
