Engineers raise issues with minister
Srinagar, July 27: A delegation of All J&K Mechanical Engineering Graduates’ Association today called on minister for PWD (R&B) Abdul Majid Wani.
The delegation led by its general secretary, Deepak Gupta extended gratitude to the minister “for the constructive efforts he and his team has made in making the promotion to the level of Superintending Engineers as well as Executive Engineers.”
The delegation also apprised the minister of various problems being faced by the cadre.
The delegation requested the minister to effect promotions against available vacancies at different levels from amongst eligible engineers at all the levels in accordance with the J&K Engineering Gazetted Services Rules 1978, the association said in a statement.
The minister, according to the statement, assured that all promotions shall be made strictly in accordance with rules so that “there are no inter-quota disputes.”
The delegation also raised issues regarding regularization of engineers, finalization of seniority lists, implementation of transfer policy, creation of new avenues for better cadre management, etc.
The delegation comprised graduate engineers including Chief Engineer, Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers, Assistant Executive Engineers, Assistant Engineers and Junior Engineers of the cadre.
