Police file chargesheet against Nayeem Khan

Accused Of 'Raising Provocative Slogans Against Sovereignty Of India’

GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar, Mar 12:  Police Tuesday file a charge-sheet against the senior separatist leader and National Front chairman Nayeem Ahmad Khan under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act of 1967 in a two-year old case in the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar. The charge-sheet was filed nearly a month after the State Home Department accorded sanction for the same.
On February 3 this year, this newspaper had reported that the government had granted formal sanction for prosecution of Khan and one of his colleagues Abdul Hamid in a case of the year 2011. Khan was booked by police along with his associate vide FIR number 72/ 2011 under section 147 RPC and 13 of the UA(P) Act.
After allegedly sitting over the case for more than a year, the Jammu and Kashmir Police vide letter No Legal/San/48/S/2012/352 had sought permission from the Home Department for launching legal proceedings against Khan.
In the charge-sheet, police has accused Khan and Hamid of raising provocative slogans “against the sovereignty of India.”
Meanwhile, National Front Tuesday alleged that the government investigation into various massacres, killings and rape incidents in Kashmir have “so far proved mere eye-wash.”
The Front expressed concern over the continued detention of its chairman Nayeem Ahmad Khan.
