3 yrs on,Govt sleeps over appointment of AEOs, ARs, AAs in KVIB

Jammu, Mar 17: Three years after advertising posts for available vacancies in Khadi Village and Industries Board, Jammu and Kashmir government is sleeping over the final selection process for some unknown reasons.
As per the sources, the Board has forwarded the selection list to the Industries and Commerce Department, which was however, reluctant to get the process completed, despite several reminders by the former.
Sources revealed that the Board issued advertisement notice on November, 2008 inviting applications for the vacant posts including Assistant Executive Officer, Assistant Registrar and Accounts Assistant/Junior Auditors. There were three posts of AEOs, 1 post of AR and 6 posts of AAs, for which the applications were invited from the eligible persons.
After receiving around 1000 applications for the posts, an interview committee, duly approved by the Administrative Department and Chairman KVIB, conducted interviews for all the posts on January 3, 2009 at Jammu and on January 6, 2009 at Srinagar.
Though several writ petitions were filed against the advertisement notice, the High Court refused to stay the process and finally the Board sought the administrative approval from the Industries and Commerce Ministry for opening of the sealed covers, containing award sheets of interview committee, to finalize the lists of the selected candidates.
Sources revealed that as the administrative department failed to respond to the Board queries, another request was sent on February 24, 2009 with the request that the KVIB be allowed to finalze the select list of AEOs, ARs and AAs as there was no legal implication involved in the matter.
The matter was again referred to Chairman KVIB, minister for industries, on June 8, 2009 but no decision was communicated to the Board.
“Number of candidates, who had appeared in the interviews, are making enquiries regarding the fate of the interviews held, either on telephone or by visiting the office at KVIB both at Jammu as well as in Kashmir”, the Department has written back in response to an RTI application, filed by one of the aspirants.
The aspirant claimed that the former I&C Minister SS Salathia was approached in this regard on several occasions but the matter was delayed for some unknown reasons. “It is more than three years since the interviews were conducted but we are yet to know our fate”, one of the aspirants, who preferred not to be named, said.
He said that all eyes were now on the new minister, Sajad Ahmed Kichloo, who was expected to take a decision on the issue so that the process could be taken to its logical conclusion.
