Apropos an excellent piece by Amit Kushari on wether autonomy is possible in kashmir. The article effectively summarises a very complex roadmap on one page which is impressive. However the author has chosen to ignore the part of Kashmir under Pakistan which is unfortunate. All Kashmiri leaders including the Hurriyat should unequivocally and publicly make it clear that secession from Indian union is not an option and clearly make the people understand that India under no circumstance will even cede an inch of land and as such "Azadi" or joining Pakistan is not a practical option.
Many ignorant Kashmiris believe that if they use stone pelting, hartals or militancy they are harming India. The reality is, unfortunately for the Kashmiri people, painfully opposite. They need to be educated about the pitfalls of using violence against a vastly superior military and economic power. Every Kashmiri needs to realize that autonomy within the Indian union is the best and safest bet for them.
The article can be expanded into a book with separate chapters going into details of each challenge.
