Kashmir Inc offers to work under PPP with government
Welcomes approval to 12 projects

Srinagar, Mar 17: The Valley’s apex trade body, Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has hailed the state government for approving 12 projects in Medium and Large Sector mobilizing with an investment of more than Rs. 370 crore.
“We compliment the state government and Chief Secretary, Muhammad Iqbal Khanday under whose chairmanship Apex Project Clearance Committee (APCC) cleared the proposals which we had forwarded to the state government,” said Abdul Hamid Punjabi, President KCCI.
Punjab said the chamber is ready to provide any kind of assistance for the implementation of these proposals.
“We are ready to work in PPP mode with government in order to make the projects workable so that the job avenues are created for the younger generation,” he said.
He added that the KCCI in its pre-budget meeting with finance minister, Abdul Rahim Rather had urged the latter to implement their suggestions of setting up cold storage chains, slaughter facility, etc. in the Valley.
Pertinently, the APCC Friday under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary approved projects including the establishment of a Mega Food Park in SPV mode at Rs. 78.64 crore with financial assistance of Rs 50 crore from the Ministry of Food Processing Industry, Government of India, at IGC, Lassipora on 400 kanals.
The park will have a multi-purpose Cold Storage, Warehouse, Slaughter Facility for Sheep & Poultry, Pack-house/Service Unit, Quality Control Lab, Reefer Vans & Collection Vans, Effluent Treatment Plant as common facilities with built-up sheds for Micro and Small Enterprises, etc.
The Committee also cleared Four Integrated Controlled Atmosphere Cold Stores with a capacity of 20,000 MT and an envisaged investment of Rs 180 crore with direct employment for 300 persons.
Four industrial units were also approved for Jammu region with a cumulative investment of more than Rs 100 crore.
