Visits Zainakote colony, directs for action against BOCA violator

Srinagar, Mar 17: Prompted by complaint of residents of Bab-ur-Reyan Lane of Iqbal Colony, Zainkote where an allegedly illegal structure has come up, the Srinagar Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr GN Qasba Sunday visited the site and sought immediate action against the accused.
An SMC handout said: “Dr Qasba paid an on spot visit… It was observed that a two storied small structure was constructed on the edges of the lane  some three years back during the unrest period by the offender without seeking permission from Competent Authority.”
“The Commissioner on spot issued instructions to the violator/proprietor to go for demolition of upper story within a period of one week and the offender shall mandatorily apply for the regularization of the ground floor from the Competent Authority otherwise the building shall be sealed,” the SMC handout said.
“Meanwhile on receiving complaint of construction of shops behind Iqbal Masjid, Dr Qasba acting promptly, reached the spot along with the concerned officials and issued necessary directions for action against a building violation,” the SMC handout said.
Earlier the Commissioner toured various areas of the City including Bemina, Batamaloo, Kak Sarai, Habba Kadal, Kani Kadal, Khanyar, Hazratbal, MA Road and its interior areas to take a stock of sanitation.
“He appreciated the entire sanitation staff who were seen working round the day for lifting of accumulated garbage,” the SMC handout added.
