Hajj companies in Valley welcome SHC directive

GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar, Mar 20: The Jammu and Kashmir Association of Hajj and Umrah Companies today welcomed the State Hajj Committee “directive” to Hajj aspirants asking them not to book with private operators until quota is issued.  “The SHC has asked the aspirants not to pay any amount to the private Hajj and Umrah companies until the quota is allocated,” said Sheikh Feroz, spokesperson, JKAHUC.
He said: “We will support the government, but there should not be any bar on Hajj aspirants registering with any company without any advance payment.”
“We feel the government should have taken this step earlier as there were incidents where gullible aspirants were cheated by unregistered private operators,” he said.
Pertinently, according to J&K State Hajj Committee the authorization of the private tour operators has been delayed due to the proposed draft bill pending in the Supreme Court for approval.
Pertinently, the government of India has moved to Supreme Court with a draft bill, proposing some amendments in the norms. Until that bill is cleared the authorizations cannot be granted.
In 2011, Hajeej India Hospitality Pvt Ltd duped scores of aspiring pilgrims, leaving them in lurch.  A year later, many aspiring pilgrims met similar fate at the hands of another private tour operator in Srinagar.
