LC condemns MLA’s action

Jammu,Mar 20: The Legislative Council on Wednesday passed a resolution to condemn the behavior of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) legislator Jugal Kishore Sharma against Sakina Ittoo.
As the House met for today’s proceedings, members including  Davinder Rana, Javed Ahmed Rana, Shehnaz Ganai, Ali Muhammad Dar and Ghulam Nabi Monga stood up demanding that the House should adopt a resolution to condemn yesterday’s incident of attempted assault on Sakina Itoo.
Davinder Rana said they strongly condemn the shameful act of the BJP member against the woman minister which was unforgivable. “We belong to a civilized society and can’t tolerate such type of behaviour, so we want to bring a resolution against Sharma and we request you to allow us,” he pleaded before the Chair.
Responding to the members, Chairman Amrit Malhotra said they can’t interfere in the matter of Lower House and asked the members to take their seats.
However, despite repeated attempts by Chairman to restore the order and proceed with the Question Hour, the NC members persistently pressed for passing of the resolution. “Give me your demand in writing as per rules of the House and I will think over it after Question Hour,” the Chairman said.
Soon after the Question Hour, Chairman allowed the resolution which was moved by Devinder Rana. “The issue pertains to the Lower House and we can’t interfere in it but with the consent of all members I have decided to adopt the resolution,” the Chairman said.
