Nawakadal college to get new campus

Jammu, Mar 20: Minister for Higher Education, Muhammad Akbar Lone Wednesday informed the House here that 65 kanals State land at Saidpora in Eidgah Srinagar have been transferred to the Higher Education Department for construction of new campus for the Government Womens College, Nawakadal, an official handout said.
“Replying to a question posed by Muhammad Yasin Shah, the Minister informed that the land so transferred to the Department needed earth-filling on large scale and required huge development cost prior to initiation of any construction work,” the handout added.
The Minister said that as per the decision taken during the meeting held on December 8, 2011 under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah it was decided that the Higher Education Department shall explore possibility of constructing the college at its present location at Nawakadal, Srinagar.
Abdul Gani Malik and Irfan Shah raised supplementaries on the question, the official handout added.
