Police ‘terrorizing’ JKLF leaders, activists: Malik

Srinagar, Mar 20: The chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Muhammad Yasin Malik, who is under house arrest since his arrival in Srinagar on March 10, has strongly condemned the “reign of terror and oppression” unleashed against the general masses and pro-freedom political leaders and activists in Kashmir.
“Police and other armed forces, at the behest of so-called democratic rulers, have started a proactive campaign against JKLF. Even today early morning police raided the house of JKLF leader Muhammad Yasin Bhat. Likewise, police in Kulgam have started a campaign against Front workers and office- bearers. Some days back, people at Budroo Yaripora protested against the authorities who had failed to bring down the body of a PDD employee from an electric pole. Police registered a case against people for protesting and ironically named many JKLF workers including the district president Kulgam, Abdul Sattar, his nephew Abdul Rashid, JKLF activists  Fayaz Ahmad  Nangroo, Abdul Rashid Laway, Meraj-ud-din  in this case,” Malik, according to a Front spokesman, said. “Abdul Sattar and others named in the case were not present in the protest but named them to harass them.”
Malik said, “Police and other forces have already arrested Front leaders Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi, Zahoor Ahmad Butt and Javed Ahmad Bhat and many other JKLF leaders and workers are being constantly harassed.”
Yasin Malik said, “JKLF is a caravan of people who have chosen the path of struggle and sacrifices for the freedom of our nation and police and so-called rulers must know that their oppressive measures cannot deter us from the path of truth.”
