ANOTHER HAJJ TOUR FIRM SEALED
SYED IMRAN ALI HAMDANI
Srinagar, Apr 30: A few days after sealing office of a Hajj tour operator for advertising bookings prior to announcement of the pilgrimage quota by the government, the district administration on Monday sealed another such firm for violating the norms.
Officials said the office of Khadim Al-Mecca at Karan Nagar was sealed on the instructions of District Development Commissioner Er Farooq Ahmed Shah who has been seeking maintenance of strict discipline in a bid to avoid duping of aspiring Hajjis, as happened in the past few years when the administration was caught seemingly napping. A squad escorted by SHO Karan Nagar Basharat Hussain sealed the office.
Officials said the private operators are yet to be granted this year’s quota by the Ministry of External Affairs(MEA). They said MEA was expected to grant quota on May 13 whereas the accused operator advertised the booking prior to the date.
Confirming the sealing of the tour operator’s office at Karan Nagar, the DDC said: “No indiscipline will be tolerated.”
Keeping in view the past duping of Hajjis by some unscrupulous elements, Shah had already cautioned the Hajj tour operators not to go for any booking without getting official quota.
Last week the officials sealed the office of a firm identified as Anees Travels based at Dalgate.
