Burglaries economic threat to traders: IGP

Srinagar, Apr 30:  “My priority is to provide a secure environment in the province and my success in this regard can be measured by the number of successful business days you have,” said Inspector General of Police Kashmir, Abdul Ghani Mir while addressing representatives of traders’ bodies at SKICC here today.
 The interactive meeting between the police and the traders was attended by DIG South Vijay Kumar, DIG North J P Singh, DIG Central Afad-ul-Mujtaba, DIG Traffic Jagjit Kumar, all District Senior Superintendents of police and Superintendents of Police , all Zonal SPs of district Srinagar.
 From traders side present were President Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Association Muhammad Yasin Shah, Senior Vice President Manzoor Ahmad Bhat , Secretary General Bashir Ahmad Kongposh and the representatives of district traders  bodies.
 The IGP in his address stressed the need for trader-police partnership for overall benefit of society.
 He said stressed upon the police officers to take effective measures to contain the acts of burglaries that pose “an economic threat to our traders’ community.”
 “In this direction the process of installing CCTVs at various vulnerable places has been started,” he said.
 IGP emphasized upon the traders to utilize RTI Acts and Public Services Guarantee Act.
 The IGP directed the district police officers to conduct similar police - public interactions in their respective districts.        
 Yasin Shah in his address said that he has firm faith in the initiative of police-public interaction that has always been promoted by the traders’ federation, an official statement said.
 The representatives of traders bodies of Kupwara, Baramulla, Sopore Ganderbal, Islamabad (Anantnag), Shopian, Lal chowk and Regal Chowk Srinagar also attended the gathering.
