JK team shine, bags 2nd place


Srinagar, Apr 30: Bringing laurels for the State, J&K Thang-Ta team has bagged second place in the overall medal tally in the recently concluded 2nd Thang-Ta Federation cup held at Dhanbad, Jharkhand.
 In the event, JK team bagged, 21 gold, 11 silver and four bronze medals. The medallist players also represented State in 2nd Asian Championship held at same venue.
 Farhana Farid, Iqra Hafeez, Fozia Majeed, Saima Jan, Tamajud Saif, Asiya Mehraj, Adil Bashir, Fizhat Rafiq, Rukeena Mohiuddin, Nighat Parveen, Mehnaz, Firdous Manzoor, Rizwan Raza, Zahir Abass bagged gold medals while as Iram Iqbal, Aliya, Rashid, Ishfaq Ahmad, Jahangir Shafi, Amina Mehraj, Naseer Ahmad, Waseem Wahab bagged silver medals. Sajjad Ahmad, Suheel Ahmad had to satisfy themselves with bronze medal.
 In the 1st Asian Sub-Junior and Youth Thang-Ta Championship held at same venue, Bakhtiyar Ahmad Dar, Saahil Noor, Zakariya Yaseen bagged gold medals while as Irfan Mohi ud din, Junaid Javaid, Sheikh Afridi,Maliq Aneeq, Manzoor, Nayara Farooq bagged silver medals. Sumiya Saif and Mansoor Majeed bagged bronze.
 Meanwhile J&K Thang-Ta Association, General Secretary; Ayjaz Ahmad Bhat has congratulated medal winners and said that World Thang-Ta Council is going to conduct International Thang-Ta Championship at South Korea from September 5 to 10 and players from J&K have also been selected for that.
