US born Kashmiri basketball coach's mission to impart training

Conducts Girls' Coaching Clinic

Srinagar, Apr 30: Continuing with his mission of making Basketball a popular sport in the Kashmir, American born Kashmiri basketball coach Shahid Ahmad Bhat conducted all girls' coaching clinic at Burn Hall school basketball court here.
 Shahid conducted first girls coaching clinic in which students from Mallinson, Presentation Convent and Delhi Public School participated.
 Shahid taught them the basic moves of the basketball sport and was impressed by the pick up of the girls.
 Bushra Ashraf was awarded MVP of the event.
 “I am here with the aim to make basketball popular among the youth which involve both boys and girls. Though lot of people in Kashmir watch basketball on television but there is less number of them who do it on court,” Shahid said.
 “It was first time that I conducted girl’s clinic and I am delighted with the response. There enthusiasm, hard work has forced to conduct such clinic in coming days,” he said.
 Big 92.7 FM, RJ Haya wished the girls all the best as she watched them play and learn.
 “I came here to see girls play and enjoy that. I used to play basketball during my time at Mallinson School and loved that,” she said.
 “It is great to see coach like Shahid working hard to make basketball popular in our part of the World. She doing great job and I wish him success in his effort,” she added.
