FPS dealers protest ration quota reduction

Srinagar, May 17: Fair price shop (FPS) dealers on Friday staged protests against “reduction in ration quota”, demanding release of full quota.
The protest demonstration was organized by the Fair Price Shop Dealers’ Association under the leadership of its president Syed Owais Qureshi at CAPD Department, Shaheed Gunj, here.
The executive members from all the districts participated in protest.Speaking on the occasion, the Union president accused the administration of creating problems for the fair price shop dealers. “The reduction in the ration for May has exposed the dealers to the wrath and anger of consumers.”
“The dealers are working on 5 % commission since 2003 without any increase in it,” Qureshi said.
Meanwhile, they appealed president, Food and Supplies Employees’ Union Muntazir Mohi-ud-Din and trade union leader Muhammad Khursheed Alam to take up the dealers’ problems with the authorities for immediate settlement.
