ONTABHAWAN REELS UNDER DARKNESS

PDD accuses residents of power pilferage

SYED IMRAN ALI HAMDANI

Srinagar, May 17: For the past three days the Ontabhawan locality is reeling under darkness when as per the locals, they staged protests against “arbitrary hike in power bills.”
“Though the area is metered, our bills have been inflated far beyond usage by the concerned Sub Division of PDD,” a delegation of residents said.
Threatening to intensify protests, the resident said: “This is injustice that when our connections are metered, we are being asked to pay more.”
When contacted the concerned Executive Engineer PDD, Ajaz Khan asked: “Why are they (affected people) approaching media again and again?”  “Everyone knows how meters are used and misused in Kashmir,” he said.
