Srinagar, May 28: Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora on Tuesday toured Srinagar City areas including Jehangir Chowk, Rambagh, Chanapora, Natipora and took stock of various development activities.
The Minister was accompanied by Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Dr GN Qasba and other senior officers and Engineers of SMC.
“Jora during his extensive tour, visited Khal-Natipora, Mustafa Colony and inspected the construction work of the under construction Community Hall with utility services ,separate washrooms for ladies and gents coming up at an estimated cost of Rs 1.20 crore,” the official handout said.
The Minister was informed that so far, Rs 66 lakhs have been spent on the project and the project would be completed within the stipulated time frame.
Jora also visited Chanapora and inspected the construction activities on one more Development Project-Citizen Facilitation centre coming at an estimated cost of Rs 85 lakhs where the work on ground floor and first floor is in progress.
He was told that so far Rs 48 lakhs have been spent on the project and the project would be completed by the end of August, this year.
Jora “directed SMC authorities to further improve the sanitation and drainage works of areas which are prone to waterlogging especially during rainy season.”
Apart from others, the Minister was accompanied by Joint Commissioner Works, AM Raina, Engineers Shafat Ahmed Khan and Firdous Ahmed and Chief Enforcement Officer Hakeem Aijaz Ali.
