Rains,hailstorm damage fruit crop in Baramulla

Baramulla, May 28: Heavy rains, hailstorm and gusty winds hitting north Kashmir’s Baramulla district this week, have damaged the standing crops here.
 Farmers in many villages in the district said there was huge damage to apple fruit and paddy crops.
 The worst hit areas have been Kanispora, Sangrama Watergam, Dangiwacha, Ladoora, Mazbugh, Hadipora, Tangmarg,
 Kandi Baramulla, Wagoora, Kreeri, Sheeri, Sopore, Rohama and Rafiabad.
 The fruit industry is the main stay of economy in this district.  “We were expecting a bumper crop this year but now more than 50 per cent of our fruit has been damaged,” the farmers said.
