Soldier shoots colleague dead in Rajouri
Rajouri, May 28: A soldier was shot dead by his colleague after a verbal spat on a Forward Post along the Line of Control here late last night.
Sepoy Mukesh Kumar of 33 Rashtriya Rifles was killed late Monday in Kalal area near the LoC by his colleague Ratinder Kumar, police sources said adding that the accused solider has been arrested and booked for murder. “According to the report lodged with the police, Mukesh and Ratinder, posted in Kalal area, had a tiff at about 11.30 p.m. last night,” said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Rajouri, Mubassir Latifi.
Following the tiff, Ratinder Kumar sprayed bullets at Mukesh Kumar from his AK47 rifle, killing him on spot, he said, adding that the accused was later overpowered by other colleagues. The army is also inquiring into the incident.
A week ago, a paramilitary solider of Sashatra Suraksha Bal had shot dead two colleagues and injured two others in Kishtwar district.
