Srinagar, Sep 7: Chef Gregor Pfaff at Hotel Lalit Grand Palace here is doing some hard work for last few days to come up with new and crunchy bakery items.
The chef from Germany has designed a cake in the shape of corncob. “I thought of this design while enjoying corncob at Makai point. Actually it is tribute to local people here,” Pfaff said.
He added: “I am also training local chefs here who I think are good learners. We have jointly made some new types of bakery items which over the period of time has been very much liked by the local people.”
Chef Pfaff is known for making pastries. He has used his hand to smear the finishing chocolate on a gigantic chocolate heart at the four seasons shopping plaza in Bangkok which weighed approximately 2,028 pounds (922 kilograms), and stood 16.4 feet (5 meters) high and 16.4 feet (5 meters) in width.
Pfaff also praised the local bread. “Kashmir has abundance of raw material which adds to the variety of bakery items one can make here. Fruits and nuts are readily available that reduce the cost of the items and also people here love to eat bakery,” he said.
Manager, Food and Beverages, Hotel Lalit Grand Palace, Rawat said with the presence of Chef Pfaff “our bakery section is providing some amazing bakery items.”
“Pfaff is well renowned chef and is known for his bakery and pastries . He has agreed to visit Kashmir after every three months, and will also train our local chefs,” he said.
Pertinently the hotel is hosting special events related to quality food to promote hospitality sector in the Valley.
“It is the idea of Chief Managing Director, Lalit Group, Jyotsna Suri to promote the ‘good food culture’ in Valley,” Rawat said.
