Muzaffar emerges winner

3rd Spring Champions Run

Srinagar, Apr 3: Having got the second position in the last two events, local athlete, Muzaffar Maqbool, finally emerged on the athletic scene of the Valley with a comfortable win in the 3rd Spring Champions run held at Sheikpora, Budgam on Thursday.
Keeping with the tradition of starting its annual calendar of activities with a run during spring season amidst bloomed almond, J&K Sports Development Association (JKSDA) organized its 3rd Spring Champions Run at Almond Garden, Sheikpora Budgam today. In the event top 18 athletes of the Valley were participated.
Contrary to the expectations, Muzaffar Maqbool of Budgam faced no challenge from other competitors. He took lead in the first lap which he maintained till the finish of the run.
Muzaffar finished first ahead of last year’s winner Hamid Aziz of Islamia College, who had to remain content with the second place. A rookie athlete from Chinar Sports, Narbal surprised everyone by finishing ahead of other well known players of Valley. He finished third.
Zubair Ahmad Wani finished fourth while as Tanveer Hussain of JK Bank finished fifth. Director, Tramboo Food Industries Pvt Ltd, Haseeb Tramboo was the chief guest on the occasion while as JKSDA senior Vice-President Rauf Tramboo, JKSDA President Mir Nazir, well known adventure sports coach Muhammad Yousuf, JKSDA member Bashir Damna were among other guests present .
Later Haseeb Tramboo distributed prizes among the winners and hailed organizers of the Budgam Unit of JKSDA for making the arrangements. “We have been organizing this event from last two years. After holding its third edition today, we are delighted with the outcome. The spring is coincided in Kashmir with Almond Blossoms and keeping with that we organize this run inside Almond Gardens each year,” said Rauf Tramboo.
“We have many plans for the upcoming season and we are hopeful that they will turn out to be a success,” he added.
