Shahnaz Bashir’s book features in Forbes magazine

Srinagar, Jan 2: Shahnaz Bashir's debut novel The Half Mother has been included in the Year-end special issue of Forbes magazine as one of the 16 books to watch out and pre-order in 2014.
  "A debutante author goes beyond the headlines for the other side of the Kashmir story," says the Forbes books' Heads-up for year 2014.
 Forbes magazine is one of the world's most considered magazines consulted for its surveys of world's "greatest 100" in categories like celebrities, intellectuals, books, and rich.
 The Half Mother is being published by Hachette India, the Indian arm of Hachette Books, UK. The Kashmir release of the book is in March 2014.
 Shahnaz Bashir contributed his articles to Greater Kashmir for seven years before joining it as Sub-Editor for the Edit and Op-ed pages. His memoir ‘A Crackdown in Natipora’ has been anthologized in ‘Of Occupation and Resistance—Writings from Kashmir (Westland) 2013. He was honoured with the University Gold Medal and Shameem Ahmad Shameem Memorial, Kashmir Times Award 2007 for excelling in media studies.
 Shahnaz presently teaches narrative and literary journalism at the Central University of Kashmir in Srinagar, where he is the Coordinator of postgraduate media studies' programme.
