Handwara, Nov 9: Scores of people staged a massive anti-army protest at Nowgam Langate here in north Kashmir on Friday.
Witnesses said that residents of Nowgam and other adjoining villages led by MLA Langate Er Rasheed assembled in front of an Army camp and staged protests against “harassment and inconvenience being caused to the people by army in the name of security checks.”
People, including Panchs and Sarpanchs joined the protest and demanded that Army should allow free movement to Nowgam, Reshwari and Pothwari and should not detain vehicles and waste precious time of passengers and transporters in the name of so-called entries and frisking.
