Secretary Tourism Farooq Ahmed Shah visited Leh and Kargil areas to take stock of the ongoing developmental works in the tourism sector.
He was briefed about the status of different projects in the tourism sector and was updated about the potential of Ladakh region for adventure tourism, Budhist circuits and monastic tourism circuit, a handout here said.
The secretary while speaking at the concluding ceremony of Leh festival assured the audience including the CEOs of Tourism Development Authorities of Leh, Kargil and Zanskaar that the tourism potential of the region will be utilized to the fullest and the same will be promoted at national and international level.
Shah said that from January till August over 2,20,000 tourists visited Ladakh against 1,46,000 tourists who visited the region during the previous year.
The secretary urged the CEOs and other Tourism officials to work hard and complete the tourism projects on time to realize the dream of visionary Mufti Muhammad Sayeed to make Jammu and Kashmir as one of the best tourist destination in the world.
