A police official said the boys – identified as Umar Farooq (19) son of Farooq Ahmed a resident of Mohalla Sarafan, Azhar Wani (18) son of Anzar Hussain Wani R/O Sartingal and Nayeem Iqbal Butt (19) S/O Mohd Iqbal Bhat R/O Pasri – were detained after the video clip went viral on social media.

Three youth have been charged with endangering the life of a young girl after a viral video showed one of them forcibly stopping the scooty she was riding in Bhadarwah area of Jammu and Kashmir.

A police official said the boys – identified as Umar Farooq (19) son of Farooq Ahmed a resident of Mohalla Sarafan, Azhar Wani (18) son of Anzar Hussain Wani R/O Sartingal and Nayeem Iqbal Butt (19) S/O Mohd Iqbal Bhat R/O Pasri – were detained after the video clip went viral on social media.

In the clip, the girl could be seen falling off her scooty after one among the trio gets off the motorcycle and tries to forcibly stop her yesterday.

“The girl had a narrow escape as she fell from the scooty when one of the accused tried to forcibly stop her," said Birjesh Sharma, SDPO Bhadarwah. He said the accused tried to misbehave with the girl.

“All the three accused teenagers were taken into custody and the bike (bearing registration number JK06 3629) was seized after the CCTV footage went viral on Internet followed by a formal complaint was lodged by father of the girl," he added.

A case FIR No. 47/ 2018 under section 341,294,336 Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) has been registered at Police Station Bhadarwah.
