As Indian and Pakistani armies exchanged fire on Line of Control in Rajouri, Poonch and Uri areas of J&K on Monday, the Border Security Force and Chenab Rangers held a commandant-level meeting in Samba and vowed to maintain peace and tranquility along the International Border (IB).

“A Commandant-Wing level flag meeting was held in Samba on our side (India),” a BSF spokesperson said.

He said during the meeting, commanders of both the forces, inter-alia, discussed various issues including recent “unprovoked” firing in Samba and other routine issues related to border management.

“It was decided to re-energize instant communication between field commanders, whenever required, to resolve the petty matters,” the spokesperson added.

He said that both sides agreed for expeditious implementation of the decisions taken in the earlier meeting and committed to each other to maintain peace and tranquility at International Border.

Chenab Rangers and BSF are deployed along 198-km International Border (IB) in Jammu region.
